Micael The Son is an independent artist from New Haven, Connecticut who writes, produces, mixes, and masters each of his songs. His passion for music began at an early age, performing at family gatherings and local shows throughout his childhood. His love for hip-hop was shaped by his father, who introduced him to artists such as Nas, Notorious B.I.G., and Tupac. As he grew older, Micael also drew inspiration from modern voices like J. Cole, Russ, and Drake.

At fifteen, Micael experienced his first battle with depression. During that difficult time he began writing his own songs, recording them in a small repurposed closet in his parents’ basement. What started as a personal outlet quickly became something deeper, as he began to recognize music as a calling rather than just a hobby.

Throughout high school, Micael kept his music largely private, treating it as a therapeutic escape rather than a career path. That changed during his first semester of college in 2019, when several personal challenges pushed him to take his craft more seriously. Determined to grow as an artist, he set up recording equipment in his dorm room and began relentlessly refining his songwriting and production skills. During this time he launched a series of weekly freestyles on social media called “Freestyle Fridays,” rapping over beats he produced himself.

By the end of that semester, Micael had built his own home studio in a new apartment and made the decision to step away from school to pursue music fully. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, he continued developing his skills as a producer, engineer, and songwriter, releasing multiple singles and completing his debut project.

In July 2021, Micael was involved in a serious car accident that left him with physical injuries and a diagnosis of PTSD. The experience forced him to step away from music and focus on recovery. The road back was long and difficult, but the adversity ultimately reshaped his perspective and strengthened his purpose.

Through persistence, faith, and patience, Micael returned to the stage and released his debut EP, Living Proof. From 2022 to 2024 he also founded and operated his own studio, Living Proof Media, helping other artists develop their sound while continuing to grow as a producer and engineer.

Today, under his independent label Living Proof Entertainment, Micael The Son creates music that speaks to those navigating life’s storms. Through honest storytelling and powerful messages of perseverance, his goal is to help listeners feel understood, inspired, and reminded that even in the darkest seasons, brighter days still lie ahead.
